Karen Weiss bio

I grew up in Dallas, Texas and was in the first graduating class of Booker T. Washington High School for the
Performing and Visual Arts. Being at that school was a life-giving experience. I received my undergraduate
degree in Art History from Boston University, eventually, after satisfying a heaping dose of wanderlust and waiting a lot of tables.

I am a multi media artist working as a painter, photographer, and jewelry designer. I have been privileged to
have opportunities to exhibit my fine art in both group and solo shows in Texas.

The last 5 or six years I have immersed myself in studies of face and body art. I provide henna face painting,
body painting and temporary tattoos to individuals, private parties, corporate events and festivals. I LOVE
doing this work and I have met the most wonderful people because of these art forms.

In my recent work I am excited to find my various art media merging as I combine my canvasses, 3-D design,
photography and body art all into one piece.

I feel that art is as necessary as breathing, whether you make it or experience it. I am grateful to be making my
living and supporting my two amazing children as a full-time artist. I encourage everyone to pursue his or her dreams.
