Dreaming my way Home

An Exhibit of Fine Art by Karen Weiss
Bath House Cultural Center
December 3 through December 23, 2005.

The dichotomies in our lives, and the perseverance of the human spirit
are central themes in the artwork of Karen Weiss. Ms. Weiss uses
imaginary landscape and playful architectural forms to comment on
situations both personal and global.

Although the artist uses rich, vibrant colors and cartoon like imagery,
there is a darkness underlying some of the work, reflecting the dualities
in our lives. The world is a place of beauty and a place of unrest.

Ms. Weiss has long had a profound sense of gratitude for a place
to call home. As a child, the artist heard stories of the Holocaust,
the Trail of Tears and other histories of loss and suffering in the human
experience. The theme of "Home" comes from the artist's longtime
awareness of the plight of refugees and the homeless, and her prayer
for a safe, nurturing place for every person to call home.
